INQUIRY

 WHAT IS IT---???????????????????
At the very beginning the utility of such an Inquiry is questioned,-----

Such an inquiry is not worth the trouble. An intelligent man generally does not enter into an inquiry about an object which is already known, or the knowledge of which does not serve any useful purpose. He is always guided by utility.

Now it is such an object. As it is pure and unconditioned, there is no doubt or indefiniteness about it, for we have such definition as " Absolute, Truth Knowledge, Infinity. As identical with the Self---

Also, there is no doubt about of the notion of  " I ", the empirical self which is well known to exist as something different from the body, senses, etc. Moreover, no one doubts his own existence. There is therefore no indefiniteness about  " IT " , which would induce one to make an inquiry into It.

Again, the knowledge of the self or Absolute which as shown above, everyone possesses, cannot destroy the world phenomena and help one to attain Liberation.
And as there is no other knowledge of the self besides "Ego consciousness", which can be called the true knowledge of Self.

 But the imperial self is felt as occupying definite space, as when we say, ' I am in the room', as involved in the manifold miseries, as ignorant, etc.

How can this kind of notion be regarded as the true knowledge of self ?

Hence the inquiry about " IT " through an examination of the scriptures dealing with It is worth while and should be undertaken
